I have one of these Mobile Tactical high Energy Lasers in my backyard. Okay, I don't, but if I did, I'd shoot birds out of the sky.

The Americans have a cool laser now that is mounted along the full length of the fuselage of a modified airliner. The use of prisms means the lasers length can be double or quadrupled-up to suit the requirement. It works in conjuction with military satelites which do the target acquisitioning. The satelites have prismatic receivers on them which can deflect the beam down to the target. All the plane does is fire the laser on the request of the command team, straight at the satelite. Then the beam is deflected down to earth to target. How cool is that?
