Don't be naive. You didn't listen to the story, it was a way bigger deal than just "walking on somebody's lawn" ... the kid AND his family have been harassing & taunting the old man for year's and he said he snapped. Obviously you don't shoot anyone for casually, inadvertently walking on your lawn but this is not remotely the case here.
