I liked Steve not for anything but the fact he was so honest. He had that rare quality in him, you could see he wasn't acting or playing social skills games. I, like most Aussies, had NEVER heard of him until he became famous in America. I don't think Ive ever seen any of his work either....nor do I really care to, however knowing who he was I doubt very much that he would have appreciated that song. While Steve was alive many Aussies I talked to said they loved his nature yet cringed at the thought he represented us....lol

I think it was the whole "Crikey, av a look at this beauty" statement that we were stereo typed with by foreigners, that was the reasoning behind some peoples resentment of him being one of our representatives.

Its a real shame, it was pride that killed him. The site that i was just on, the article said he was invincible?! He was just as human as the rest of us. No better, no worse. No less susceptible to a sting ray attack than you or I. I mean no disrespect don't get me wrong, but HE isnt suffering for his death. His wife, a widow, his kids wont see his smile when they walk down the isle. All because of his pride. Not to mention the way he handled animals COMPLETELY UN-professional. I saw an episode of his episodes where he had his BABY Daughter out on the show holding her in one arm and teasing a croc with chicken or whatever in another. DESPICABLE. Most of the other animal planet show hosts said they saw it coming Jeff Corwin was one. It was a matter of when Not if. Im sorry If i seem disrespectful, But to see you people holding him to such high acclaim, like he was a damn hero for being reckless and irresponsible. You people should be ashamed for putting him on a pedestal. The accident could have been avoided if someone talked some sense into him.
