That too, but mainly because of the fanatism that was shown by the Japanese during the battles to take Okinawa, Iwo Jima and other Pacific Islands. The horrific nature of the Japanese 'warrior' was enough to regard the use of a nuclear weapon as a means that unfortuantly would take thousands of lives [BUT] would save MILLIONS. Not just to save American lives, but also Japanese, British, Australian, Canadian. New Zealand...(And all the other allied nations fighting the Pacific Campaign of WW2).

The world can condemn the US all it's wants for dropping two A-Bombs....but if it hadn't, the world would have been in a unrecoverable state of war and death whilst the Japanese attempted to expand their empire.....and deep down (YOU ALL KNOW IT).
