I once got to touch a pandas paw here in San Diego. I was working on the zookeepers locker room at the new enclosure and a trainer asked me if I wanted to see one. She was waiting patiently by the door leading from her sleeping chamber to her enclosure. The zookeeper said "hey big bear" and she came right over. Up close thier teeth are all yellow and thier white fur is kinda brownish. That close you realize, this is an animal, not the teddy bear that they look like from a distance. The trainer reached through the barred window on the door and started petting her. He told me I could pet her also, but I chickened out and only petted her paw that was holding the bar. At the time I was thinking Thats a big f-ing bear, F that, But now I wish I had been braver. Her fur was so coarse. It was still an awesome experience. Working construction at the San Diego Zoo I've had the chance to see a bunch of cool stuff, but that was probably the coolest.
