I work at a large hospital and stuff like this happens ALL THE TIME. It's terrible how creeps take advantage of people who are incapacitated. I'd love to catch someone in the act one day.

I'm guessing that this was a set-up to catch a thief. The camera was right on the phone. Unless most hospitals have surveillance on their patients. Green Cat might know.

Martial... I watched the vid very carefully 5 times. I'm thinking that perhaps the patient was conscious but incapacitated. He DID move a leg, an arm and I detected some very slight movement of his head. Unfortunately, we can't see his face. The eyes tell a lot. It looked like he had a trach in his throat. The white pouch you see sitting high on his chest would catch secretions and the long tubing that goes down and out to the left would be his O2 supply, plugged into a wall. There appears to be a little machine on the cabinet above where the phone was and it could be for sleep apnea. Meaning, when an obese and/or chronic snorer sleeps, he'll stop breathing for long intervals, (up to a couple of minutes), which is not a good thing especially if he happens to be a cardiac patient. Sleeping upright relieves the condition somewhat. Which would explain why he's sitting in a chair and not laying in his bed. *Long-winded cat*

That said... I don't know what kind of monitoring protocol they might have where this took place. It's plausible that this particular hospital ward has cameras in private rooms with the monitors being at the nurses' station. A patient who would be using an apnea machine would or should be watched carefully. He also had some kind of head dressing.

And so, the long and short of it, Martial, is it COULD have very well been a sting. It's hard to say because of the camera itself. Is it capable of watching the patient while he's in bed, too? I only described the tubing and such because it looks realistic. It is suspect because the patient appears to be fully dressed which is rarely seen in hospitals. This may have taken place in a long-term care facility.

Perhaps there was a history of theft from this patient and the family set up the camera.

Now that is very low of this jerk. I bet his parents would be so proud of him for doing this type of thing. I think that he should be strung up somewhere very far from anyone else, then set on fire and left for the wild animals to finish off his body. I would hope that it was a very slow and painful death so he would have time to think about all the evil things that he has done in his life. I don't think that he will be going to heaven when he dies.

For some people stealing is inbread. This...uh...well...I can't really call him a persom because that implies that he is human which we all know he is not. Anyway, this is how he makes the majority of his income. Sad isn't it? Do you suppose there is someone in the world that he wouldn't steal from? I doubt it.
