Its not too uncommon for birds of prey to try this. I saw some nature show once showing eagles grabbing baby mountain goats and flying off. But they are too heavy so the eagles bring them over the cliff then drop them on purpose for a easy kill. Nature is cruel, but amazing.

Shroomy. It's a popular 'sport' and also a big status symbol with the Arab prince's. That's why they'll pay top dollar for prime birds of prey.
It's more than likely that the guys you see in the video, are the ones who released the deer as quarry for the bird.

The only reason they were trying to save the deer is because they have to fly the birds 'keen' (unfed). If they let it feed on the deer, they'd never see it again, the same as if they let it 'roam free'.
The deer, rabbits, game birds etc. are mostly bred in captivity especially for the sport.
Next time dickhead, at least know a little of what you're talking about!
