It was absolutely terrible to watch and it sickened me to hear the caregivers laughing.
I've worked with people with disabilities for 11 years now and feel the need to make a point on the other side of the coin (although i am in NO WAY condoning abuse). Quite often this field is understaffed and underpaid. This leads to many "caregivers" being unqualified, not properly trained, and often working way way too many hours, often for not much more than minimum wage. I've worked with staff who've worked over 300 hours in a month. This can be a very stressful job (I've heard the burnout rate is 10 yrs.) The government really needs to step up and start paying for QUALIFIED staff who are not overworked. I personally run a home for 3 individuals and have seen time and time again the need for this (where I'm from at least). The company I work for starts employees off at the same wage that they would get at a burger joint. And we are so desperate for staff that many of them are teenagers without any experience.

@ Jess.... I was thinking about you when I saw this vid and was pretty sure you were going to weigh in on this. You're absolutely right about the staffing shortages. There just aren't enough truly qualified people who work in these jobs. If there was better training and a higher wage, things would be a little better, but I still think that there's always going to be abusive scum who get through and use these poor people for their own sick gratification.

to happen. Absolutely right. They say abuse predominantly
occurs from family, "friends", and caregivers. I just fervently
wish that caregivers were given the proper training, pay, and
supervision...then the job may be more desirable, and would
make it easier to fire assholes like this when you notice that
something about them just doesn't feel right, instead of
worrying about how you're going to get 30 shifts filled that
week when you have a shitass selection of mostly untrained
and incompetent staff. Grrrrr it just gets me all fired up!!!!
