God I hate whining little skaters who claim they have a right to skate anywhere they please and justify it by saying it doesnt hurt anyone/anything. Take a trip up to San Francisco and walk around the Embarcadero. Chunks of concrete are missing stone benches. 2 foot high concrete blocks which used to have nice square edges and corners now look like someone took a jackhammer to them rounding all the edges and breaking off all the corners. Handrails for the steps in the park near there used to have a nice painted and sealed surface are now devoid of it except for some spots underneath.
It got so bad that my roommate, who works for the city, was sent up to Seattle to see how they handled the very same problem. Their solution was to add aluminum pieces which were bolted along the endes of the blocks making it impossible to railslide. Within 2 weeks, 90 perc of this aluminum pieces had been broken off leaving even more damage.

That was a cheap shot if I've ever seen one. And then the kid takes off. Skaters obviously have a problem with authority. Maybe the security guards should dress up like skaters. They could rollerblade around.... maybe even do a few tricks. Then they'd be kewl. 
im an ex skater, and i wish the worst on that piece of shit who hit the guard. regardless of whether you think skaters need to get back at society (which is bullshit, you are a burden on society), this was at a skating event and from what i can tell the crowd was not behaving so that has fuck all to do with societies views on the sport.
I really hope that guy suffers something horrible.

That guard must have said something he shouldnt have. It is his fault he got owned so bad, he should have been a little more aware of his surroundings.

It's funny how people (I guess I should say my fellow Americans) are against stereotypes. Look, groups of people tend to have some common traits, positive and negative. But for some reason it's WRONG to group people this way. What is the big fucking deal? As if people don't realize there are exceptions to stereotypes.

@ gwish, I hear you, but the reason i am against stereotyping is because that is the root cause of the ignorance Americans display to the rest of the world. It is closed minded thinking that is to blame for Americans being seen as arrogant assholes in the worlds eye. There are several reasons, but that is a big one from what ive been told.
And I will admit, I am guilty of it too. For example, i hate new age hippies, and i hold myself back from saying exactly how i feel about them right now. But you do have one point, groups of people tend to have some common traits. As far as it being wrong or not, thats a open ended debate.
Consider these propositions: Ask the Jews if it was wrong for Hitler to group all of them into one stereotype. Need I suggest further instances of why stereotyping is not a good thing? I know those are extreme cases to prove a point, but realization of exceptions or not, if you tend to stereotype people, that will be your first impression of them no matter what you learn otherwise later.

Stereotypes are based on truth, or they wouldn't be stereotypes now would they? How come in all of your examples, they are all white vs. "some minority"? Unfortunately, in this country, we have a tendency to focus on the negative and forget about the positive. The piece of shit in this video is all too commonly shown as a representative of the whole skater community. Coradon’s comments above pointed out the property damage that it causes. I noticed nobody who is a defender of skating; answered those charges. It is okay to damage public property? Or is it only okay, when someone else is footing the bill...
This video just shows the thing that I find totally disturbing. A complete and utter lack of respect. Shame on them.

However, once I was in a parking lot at a grocery store... It was late at night, and I was on my way home. (More than likely from the bar...)
A small group of skaters was harassing a woman trying to get her groceries in her car. I approached the group and told the kids in a none too polite manner to, "Fuck Off!"
Long story short, one of the little bastards came up behind me and smacked me in the ribs with his board. I was lucky that it only cracked three of them. After that, they took off... Unfortunately for them, this particular store had cameras in their parking lot.
I understand what you mean by attitude and watching what you say when outnumbered. However, in the video above, that little bastard came from behind. Whatever you may say, it certainly doesn't deserve a "foreign object" (for our Wrestling fans) to the body.
I guess that was my point of my usual long-winded rant...

I work at a local mall as a security officer and we get no respect from these skateboarders that come to the mall, They do everything to try to get us to get mad at them. I just call the police because we have a police substation at the mall. The thing is they yell at us and say everything under the sun. Then one of the police officers shows up and then every skateboarder shuts up.
There will come a day when Security is granted more powers and when that day comes, These punks will regret it. I will never understand them because they think because it's paved they can ride up and down on it. Funny thing is when one of them gets hurt. Who do they come to for help. Security driving around the mall.
The security guard I would suggest became a little frustrated with the young skateboarders who clearly are not used to being told "NO" and pathetically lashed out with his foot.
However the weak little prick that smashed him from behind needs to have his own skateboard inserted where the sun don't shine!!!
Both the security and the skater are fucktards. You could tell by the securitys body language that he was being a deuche; he tried to kick the one guy who wasn;t even doing anything but he missed.
Why was the security like that anyway? It didn't look like the place needed to be shut down or whatever they were trying to do.

If you scan through the videos on this site, even just today, you will see what mankind is in its most true form. Aggressive, and therefore violent, bored, sexual beings. And then in the comments you have the side that depicts the separation from primitive to intelligent beings
Humans are not violent by nature, simply aggressive, and constantly seeking methods to alleviate boredom. So when someone comes by and infringes on their desire to have fun for example, they will try to stop them in an aggressive way (kicking) and the retaliation will be aggressive as well (hitting the intruder with a blunt object)
And it all gets posted on the internet so we are able to see what happens outside our own micro society we call our lives and where we live. And we debate the moral and ethical sides of the particular instance.

The skater that hit the security guard on the head does not represent the entire skater community. Crowd mentality does play a part, that's a good point, but how big a part? Would a crowd of fireman, business professionals, young Republicans, or Mormons have cheered the beating of an authority that was threatening to shut down their rally?

Think of it this way… if one day you added 2+2 and got 5, would you continue to believe that 2+2 always equals 4? I know for sure, as intelligent a person you have convinced me to be, if you had no good reason to doubt the validity of your memory, that you would have a serious issue understanding reality from that point on.

@Rod -- Look at it this way. When it comes to stereotypes, 2 + 2 will sometimes equal 4. Sometimes it will equal 5, sometimes it will equal something outrageous like 23. It's hard to know what it will equal at first, so you have to examine it a bit to get a feel for this particular "2+2". The point is this: since I know that sometimes 2+2 will equal 4, it's not unreasonable for me to have a little expectation that this "2+2" might end up being 4. Because I KNOW that in the past I've SEEN that it might end up being 4. I'm also aware that it could end up being another value, but until I see that it's not, I'm gonna be thinking this might be a 4. That doesn't seem too unreasonable to me.
...anybody thinking that what that kid did...assault an unsuspecting victim from BEHIND with a lethal weapon is ok or justified...in any means...seriously needs to rethink their lives...and possibly seek out professional counseling.
The good news on this probably is...as soon as that guard recovered...bet he had a lawyer crawl all up that kid's parent's 'asses' and sued the living crap out of them. So..way to go, tough skater guy...you're parent's must be proud...

Now...he's gonna go up for 1st degree agg. assault, 2nd deg. agg. assault and 2 counts 1st degree attempted murder. His trial starts 9 April. As soon as he gets his 'guilty' charge..I'm turning loose a nasty lawyer upon him...
