True parents, right, honeybee? It makes sense. There are so many qualities that parents ought to have. Love, discipline, praise, discernment, reprimand, etc. I shake my head at pacifist parents who never lay a hand on their child and condemn those who do as hypocrites. Punishment exists for a purpose, and there is a right way to punish.
These kids... I believe they received little or no punishment in their own upbringing (and for goodness' sake, their upbringing isn't even complete yet!). No discipline! Certainly a lack of morals! How can it be in any way conceived as "okay" to do something like this? The man was right, they were trying to kill him. If murder sat well with those kids at ten years old, I shudder to imagine how much hate festers in them.

Well, it is a question... They are obviously going to be in the prison system for a long time to come... If not, and they eventually are released... My question is, what the hell kind of people are they going to be? I am guessing that they are not going to be the most productive members of society.

Johnny gunz, I like the sounds of self defense too. Hopefully these little shit kids will get a hard sentence and the juvenile courts will not go easy on them. If they get off easy and do little or no time, that's just more time for them to make more victims. What if they got a hold of a kid their own age who had no idea how to defend him or herself or how to escape the attack? They would propably kill the kid.

Funny how people try to be morally correct in all they do and say in life etc but when something like the incident in the clip happens everybody calls for the kids to be sent away and put in jail and butt raped etc. Surely like honebee pointed out about the parents etc these kids have had a shitty start to life and if sent to a place like a jail the ending would be no better. Surely it would be better to sent them to a place that could offer guidance and love and in so doing offer a better future? These kids are not bad but have only done something bad. The point I was making is that they are far to young to be written off just yet. A mind that young is so impressionable that with the correct upbringing they can be decent people. What are you saying that no-one can ever have a second chance? Ever? Adults who commit crimes I would agree can be sent away for ever and a day, but kids that young...I`m not so sure. I would rather give them a chance ,that s all
Well cove, it all sounds good in a way. what about the victim and someone, the people who hurt him, paying a price for what they've done. Why should his, the vic's, suffering be dealt with less seriously because of the attackers age? If the attackers where 25 y/o and the same damage was inflicted to the victom why should they be punished worse for there age. I look at it completely from the victims position. He got attacked! by a 10 y/o, 25 y/o 50 y/o. doesn't matter really. He still suffered unjustly. If a woman were beaten, raped and sodomized by a 13 y/o or a 33 y/o would it make a difference for her because of there age. Should there be a difference in punushment for the same crime done to the woman? What if the raped, beaten and sodomized victem was a 9 y/o girl? Should there be different punishment for the 13 y/o rapist and the 33 y/o rapist? What about the rape victim? where's her justice? What about the homeless man, where's his justice? Just some stuff for you to think about if you want to.
I will think about it because some of the points are relevant. One that is relevant is what about the victim and his justice? Don’t get me wrong about the kids getting off lightly. They should be punished and the homeless guy should get justice. However sending the kids to a place like jail will only guarantee that when they are released in 10 years or whatever they will be worthless and have limited skills to offer the public, if any. What good does that serve In SA we have a place called Boys Town that is meant for kids like this where the councillors etc treat the kids like their own and provide them with the care and parent figures that they need. When the kids leave they have had the punishment (their freedom is taken away), the education, the guidance and being taught the proper values in life. Where will they ever get that in a prison environment? Adult brains have already been formed and hardened into a certain mindset so the chances of reforming are close to nil. But with a kid the chances are huge. As for the victims I feel for them, they have been done a shitty but sending a kid to prison is not going to make them feel any better. Trust me I’m not a liberal and a disgusting adult who has raped and killed etc should have the some done to him and then shot! Kids….another chance

Should a 25y.o be punished more for their actions than a 10 year old? Yea, and the law feels the same way hence they try people as adults or as children in court. If their minds worked the same, they would have the same punishments for people of all ages.
Children can't predict the consequences of their actions to the same extent as an adult. It was still wrong, but I'm just pointing out your flawed argument.
So your solution to the problem is to stick them in a cell at the taxpayers expense? Yeah, I can see how that would help them along with society, strong argument there...
The parents of the children are just as much to blame for not teaching their kids right from wrong.

locking the kids away will serve no-one any justice, especially the homeless guy. In 10-15 years when those kids get out, how will that serve the community. Think about the next homeless person or victim they come across.
Just releasing a couple thugs out to do more harm. Yes, they deserve some punishment but education is key. The parents need to be counceled

I wish the sentencing over here was tougher because if that had happend here the kids would have got a cuddle toy a bowl of icecream and a nice home to stay in with some moron willing to put up with their bullshit and the guy would have been arrested for being a paedophile just because hes a man and hes within 100 yards of a kid! and also probably done for assaulting their feet with his face to boot!
