Whats up with the video at the end? Last 30 seconds of darkness. what is it a moment of silence. When i was in Iraq i worked at a prison that we were going to hand over to the Iraqi police. Don't believe all the torture stories because the prisoners didn't want us to go. Now i know why!!! 
Jesus, now I really feel sick. I know they're criminals, but....man, I'm just speechless. IMO, only the worst of the worst of the worst deserves that shit, and I'm talking about serial killers, rapists, and pedophiles...
Anyone else, that's completely and utterly inhumane. I'll take a moment today to reflect, and thank God for the many blessings in my life. The next time I think I'm having a shitty day, I'll endeavor to remember this vid.

@ Izzy: This was PRE IEDs in iraq bud. The men doing the beating are wearing Iraqi Gaurd uniforms. This suggests that Saddam Insane was still in power and enforcing it too. That would lead us to conclude the US hasnt invaded and IED's were POINTLESS and really not around at that time. When I say that I mean not being used sporadically against US forces as they are today. So the men you despise in this video had opposed, turned against, or broke one of Saddam's rules and are now paying the price. ......How about them Chargers?

@zinny actually the Brits never crossed into iranian waters. The gps coordinates are logged by computer and has also been confirmed by the, I think Turkish ship, being searched at the time. It was clearly in Iraqi waters.

what is your background on the middle east? Have you studied it? Do you read about it? I ask because I get the impression that you seem to base your decisions/impressions on the region and the people by the video clips you see on TV and the internet.

@ Bamont: Agreed. I hate it when people try to take videos like this and suddenly set up a platform from which to start spouting political agenda. And for goodness' sake, it even happens on the Internet.
I must admit, while the video was playing, I saw the title and thought, "Iraqi police--what did that title mean to me before I actually even considered Iraq of any immediate importance to the United States?" And I know that I didn't. If I heard "Iraqi Police" in 2002, I would have thought, "Saddam." And surely if I'd seen such a video, I could have only thought, "Wow... depraved, blackened hearts." And when I hear "Iraqi Police" today, somehow, such an occurrence doesn't seem likely.
However! I know that it may happen and, indeed, probably does happen. American military presence in a foreign country cannot change the evil hearts of men who lust for the spilled blood of the criminal and innocent alike. Yet who would be willing to attack the root--the sinful heart's malice that so evidences itself in videos like these? No government will (or even could), I will tell you that, and so no progress will ever be made in that respect.
If such barbaric brutality can fester even in the 20th and 21st centuries, you know humanity is slow to learn, despite our pride in the claim to the contrary.

I started that thread, its titled "The United States, Iraq/The Middle East and oil". You will have to forgive me for the length of my initial comment, but I tried to cover all the bases. And needless to say, it is difficult for someone who has trouble keeping comments on videos brief to be brief when free to express just about all their views on such topics.

If they are terrorists then keep using them for drum practice. If they aren't they will probably turn into terrorists after being treated this way by the the 'police' anyway.
You can't help a country like that so why don't just get the hell out and let them fight it out amongst themselves.
@ChimpyChompy: We probably will do just that. But if you look at what happened when we left Vietnam, one group will most likely eliminate the other. And if you try not looking at them as Iraqis, but as humans, us going in there, disrupting the stability, and then leaving when things got rough is not too commendable as far as the humanitarian aspect of things go. But those on the left dont seem to realize that little (very likely) possibility. I guess since results were not instant, why not just cut and run.
But who knows, maybe you really cant help a country like that, and any proposed solution is doomed to failure...

I see what you're saying, but it just seems that things are getting worse the longer we stay in their country. These people just don't seem ready for democracy yet and we can't make them follow that concept - as hard as we try.
What they need is a dictator to rules their lives by the sword, as they just don't seem able to support themselves without the element of leadership a dreaded dictator can deliver.
The struggle is far more comple than can ever be truly understood but it is something that Western values cannot correct because these values are completely alien to their moral and religious beliefs. We are basically wasting billions which could be better spent elsewhere.
Question to anyone: Terrorist....So is that the new name we call the enemy? Or...can I call gangsters in South East LA, terrorists? What if you throw eggs at my house and scare me so badly that I have a heart attack, would that make you a terrorist? Wait wait..That 13 year old girl who called that old lady and made it sound like she was JigSaw in the MOVIE saw..She ultimatley gave that old lady a stroke...Is that kid a terrorist?

Its videos like this that make me wonder what these men did. Its out of context. They could have conspired to bomb a bus full of children, or were a ring of paedophiles. Or is this from the time of Saddam, and all they did was criticise him? Who knows. But it takes a very dark heart to be one of those guards nevertheless.

ive seen thios vid before but this shows more than previous. that poor bloody guy...fuck i hopew they lived. their so beaten they barely react. i gaurantee they barely did anything. ive seen videos before of theives getting their hands cut off. and not with an axe. they get them sawed off with a little dull knife. i saw one kid have his hand, than foot cut off. than baged up with a plastic bag. damn what is wrong with that side of the world. and u think this is bad, imagine what we would be seeing if there were video cameras during nazism.

I don't know the circumstanses for the beatings but there is no fighting back, this is what happens when there are no consequences. Makes panty head shit seem quite mild, oh, big mean dog. @that guy: I'm not saying the religion is bad or ALL the people but so many of them there have that same way to them that may seem normal to them but horrible to us. I dunno no I haven't studied them but I have read up on them and see a lot of stuff not just in the news.
when saddam first got "outed" does anyone remember the CD's that went onto the Iraqi market showing Saddams/soldiers brutality...mostly on Shi‘ite muslims or Kurd prisoners??? anyone remember? They were the hottest items in the whole of Iraq for sale ..true...
Just after this there was a few vid's going around on the net with sadams soldiers blowing people up. They had taped granades and bombs to prisoners and literally blew them up. scott do you remember this or have you seen it?? I don't think they are posted on NT.??

i remember this vid from about 6yrs years ago on CNN.
the explanation was that some were being beaten for not jumping up & down and chanting with enough sincerity in the presence of saddam, some others didn't kiss saddams hand & feet with the proper reverance, and a few didn't stick their noses & tongues far enough up saddams ass after a particularly explosive smelly fart that embarrassed saddam. the chef was of course , killed.
i may be mistaken of course.
