@ewinforce...I hate to point out the obvious man, but there is not much that anyone without a med kit, a shit load of gauze, and a syringe of novacane (SP?) can really do for the poor bastard. Seeing as how they are at a skate competition, it was pretty obvious to everyone, including the medics I am sure, that someone was just hurt.
And lastly, skaters are usually dumbfounded when someone actually gets fucked up. It is kind of awe striking in a way. And all you can say is "aawwooo shIT!" and then roll up and assess the damage.
Maybe they seem unfeeling to you just as most people (here and elsewhere) have little sympathy for someone who put themselves in that position. He is the one who fucked up and thus fucked himself up, wait for him to tell you what to do...

@ iDoSay.... Wait for him to tell you what to do? I don't think the poor sap would be in any condition to give instructions. Some of these guys really take their lives into their own hands for the sake of the perfect stunt. I don't pity their injuries too much, unless it's mortal, but sometimes I pity their parents who have to deal with injuries and medical bills.

ok...so this is kinda off topic.....everyone always says somthing about helmets and yesterday someone said that Tony Hawk ALWAYS wears a helmet, but he doesn't. If u've ever watched any shows like Jackass and Bam's Unholy Union, when Tony guest appears on the shows and they go to skate...Tony don't ever have a helmet on. So whoever said that was wrong....sorry to burst ur bubble!

To helmet or not to helmet... that is the question. 
A pro with supreme confidence might forego a helmet but I bet if you asked Tony Hawk how many times he landed on his head.... it would be in the dozens.
I think ToolBoox got it right. Kids feel they're invincible. They see stuff on TV/video/internet and think, "Hey! I'm gonna try that!" They don't think about the hundreds of hours of practice it took to get to those levels. That goes for wrestling, too. Kids were dropping like flies for a while because they were pile-driving and jumping on each other.
^^i saw a back yard wrestling video, and a guy lit a branch on fire and hit a guy. before that they threy each other through dry-wall. in between... well... lets just say thumbtax. after the firey branch, one of them fell off the roof and the other one jumped off the roof for a diving headbut. he won. everyone was like "omfg you won" and the loser was off to the side laying completely still. Ox? idk. but it was awesome,^^
@Green Cat: LOL, you bring up a good point, i sort of forgot the fact that kid just busted his mouth on a rail. I was just trying to say that skaters arent unfeeling, at least in my experience. If you dont skate, it is hard to tell what happens after someone wipes out by watching these clips usually. They just stand around the kid for a few to figure out how bad the damage is. And then someone eventually takes out a cellphone and calls for help.
A friend of mine attempted to jump this really high, really wide gap once. Hed done it before, but that time he landed short, and smashed him face right into the pavement. We werent sure what to do, and sort of stood there asking the dumbest question on earth at the time to him "are you okay man?" And when he answered in a mumble, it was apparent he wasnt, so we decided it was probably best to try and find his teeth (we couldnt find one, because it had been rammed up into his gums) and take him to the hospital.
Lesson/point: The sound of meat meeting pavement (or metal) followed by blood is shocking, and makes you stop for a second before you react. And usually when someone smashes their face into the ground, they are not "okay".

@ iDoSay.... The vids are as close to one of those wipeouts as I ever want to get. I see enough blood at work.
I know what you're saying, though. I think it's just human nature to laugh when someone falls down, especially if the wipeout is spectacular. But then when they realize that their buddy is really hurt they are in shock. It's also human nature to secretly be glad it's not themselves writhing on the ground or knocked out. It opens the eyes for a moment about mortality and it's scary but it's soon forgotten until the next wipeout.
@green cat: you pretty much nailed it. You explained it better than i could. People always wonder why everyone stands around a kid who just ate it really hard, but chances are those criticizing have never seen it happen in real life. It doesn't really matter, but i always like to try to inform people about things they may not be fully aware. (That sounds much deeper than it is supposed to)
