The elderly should have their driving skills tested every 6 months. Old people can deteriorate pretty fast. Fine one month, senile the next.

they shouldnt be prosecuted but dmv has a court too that is not criminal related. you may lose your licence but you dont go to jail

@ toosmooth.... Many times I've seen doctors send notification to DMV about someone not being "fit" to drive. Poor ol' coots don't take it very well. Most of them have been driving for decades and to be told they aren't allowed to drive anymore is a shock. Many of them become depressed because they feel their freedom is being taken away. Sad, but it's for the safety of the patient and others on the road.

I was run off the road by an old, almost blind bastard years ago on a snow-covered road.
Fucked my car up though my gf and I were ok.
I did get his son to shell out some cash with the hint that I would go to the police.

The son said he didn't want his Dad to get his licence revoked as it meant he would have to drive the old bastard around the place.

THat must have been horrendous for that poor guy.
