I did not see what the one guy held but the other one had a Gurkha kukri knife. Actually, probably a cheap knockoff of a kukri. But apparently it was pretty sharp.

It has been a few years since I last looked at these statistics, but at that time, in the U.S., shooting victims survived about 90% of the time. But victims of stabbings died about 90% of the time. Typically, they bled to death before help arrived.

This is not to say that shooting victims got off scott-free. These are just the survival rates.
