Good shoot, glad the two officers and the driver were unhurt, but I question the contat officer's tactics after the gun was seen by his partner. personally I would have dropped the damn ticket book on the ground instead of exposing myself by walking over to put it on the hood of the car like that.


And in an effort to "play nice" with the children I'll give Another Victim a chance to tell me what his reasons are for second guessing the officer's actions and justifying his "cops don't give a fuk" remark. Are you kidding? If an officer is pointing a gun at you, and tells you to stop raising your weapon and you point it at him, what's he gotta do? Fucking pull out his tazer and get you before you kill him? No. He did the only thing he could do. He's a hero in my book. They should make him wear a red cape. If you pointed a gun at me, I'd try to put as many rounds into you as I had. It's rediculous to thing that he should have reacted any other way.

While I do know of police abuses, even in my own area, I do not think any reasonable person can say this was not justified. It definitely looked to me like a case of "shoot or be shot".

The first officer showed remarkable restraint. Maybe it was a result of good training. But in any case, if the office had shown less presence of mind, the driver would probably be dead today, too.

He died doing what he loved, sitting down and not moving. Maybe just a little.

Imagine being the driver. Your friend just gets shot 8 times with a glock. That would not be an image youd forget for the rest of your life.
Serves him right for trying to pull a gun on two cops pointing their guns at you. He did seem pretty shocked when the first shot went off though. And 8 out of 9 shots at close range? 3 would probably kill him. 8 is overkill.

Oh well, that is one more criminal off the street. It was that or jail, and the jails are flooding over. We gotta get rid of criminals somehow..

@kitty: I don't hate cops. But a former friend of my roommate was killed recently -- only a few weeks ago -- by the police. They went to someone's house (where he was staying temporarily), supposedly because they had been tipped off that there were drugs there.

When the police got to the house, the person who lived there left through a window or something, leaving him there. When the police started "questioning" him, he collapsed in the front yard, having an epileptic seizure. (He was known to have epilepsy.)

According to witnesses, as he lay there on the ground twitching from the seizure, the police tasered him because he "refused" orders to lie still and not move... then repeatedly beat and kicked him as he lay completely helpless on the ground in the throes of his seizure.

(OF COURSE he was not holding still... he was having an epileptic seizure!)

He died a couple of days later in the hospital. You should see the pictures they took of him while he was there. To say he was severely beaten seems an understatement.

He was not charged with anything, and police did not find any drugs in the home where he was staying.

I repeat: I do not hate cops. As long as they are doing their jobs properly. But as for those who do shit like that... well, let's say there is no love lost.

Which is why I say: yes, if the police tell you to do something, in most cases you should probably do it. But have witnesses, keep records, and sue their asses off or get them fired if they are doing things they are not supposed to do! It happens!
