This has to be fake, bullets don\'t ricochet straight back. You\'d have to be shooting something at a perfect 90 degree angle ------> || for it to come straight back, and if it did hit someting at that angle all of the force would be sent into whatever you hit and the bullet wouldn\'t be coming back at all.

Either it\'s fake or it ricocheted multiple times (unlikely) or it was a piece of shrapnel from whatever he hit.

it wasnt a ricochet genius no bullet in the world can richochet 180degrees unless ins multiple spots. most likely hit a rock and the rock exploded. too big of a projectile

He CAN\'T hear the whistle, and most people probably can\'t because they have sound protection on, Anyone who shoots on a regular basis knows you never go to the range with naked ears.

Bullets can ricochet back and potentially hit people shooting. Thats the problem with MANY indoor ranges. The back walls became mandatory to be slanted and that solid targets were not allowed. It also happens when shooting solid targets on outdoor ranges.

Also, he shot something, probably a coffee can or a rock with a .50 bullet. What ever got hit literally exploded like a bomb because of all the energy that went through it. The air dispacement alone probably could obliterate a soda can.

umm intelligent ppl why can\'t bullets ricochet back in the same direction they came from? of course an absolutely perfectly square out hit of a target will cause the bullet to go back exactly the way it came. it does appear that it was the iron disk he was shooting at that came back at him though... obviously the shot was dead perfect centre as far as left-right was concerned, but slightly below centre causing it to flick up into the air spinning end over end and making the whistling sound.

This is fake as hell.

Mythbusters did an episode, and they busted the myth about shooting a hat off a guys head. If any debris did ricochet back towards the shooter, it would have been moving too fast, and be too small to knock his hat off his head, as well as the ear protection he was wearing.

Since both items fell towards the direction of the cameraman, I assume they attatched a line to the hat and yanked it off his head after he fired the shot.

Because ricochets are all about the displacement of the force from the original energy from the shot. If the bullet hits at an odd angle some of it\'s force will be directed at that angle and the bullet will send a portion of it\'s energy off in the angled direction, aka the bullet will ricochet and send the projective off in the direction of the angle of impact. In order for the bullet to come straight back, it would need to displace all of it\'s energy into whatever it hit, and that substance would have to be reflective enough to send a significant portion of that energy straight back. That simply doesn\'t happen with any substance on earth: if it is capable of repelling that energy at all, it is certainly not going to repel it at that speed straight back. Nothing on earth has that kind of reflective force, especially not at that distance. So, this was either shrapnel from the hit on the target, or fake.

If it wasn\'t fake or shrapnel, it would literally be a one in a billion chance that this could actually happen...

Hunting is also redundant. Try hunting something that will fuck you up like a grissly or a cape buffalo. THATS REAL HUNTING.

The shooter is very, very lucky. He could have lost an eye there. No safety goggles will stop a piece of debris at that speed. Remember fellas: mass x speed equals force.

It would be nice to know what he was actually shooting at. I seriously doubt that it was the actual bullet, almost cetaintly a piece of rock.

When I was young and dumber I was shooting in a rock quarry and did have a .22 cal round do multiple richochets and come way to close to me and my friends. Within a couple of feet.

@teddybeardustin, A hat is soft object and will not absorb the force of a bullet. Ear muffs are hard and will. The hat was not shot off but came off with the ear muffs.
