I remember seeing this on a blooper show years ago. He's some guy who had his own cable access show where he would perform stupid stunts, kinda like an early version of Jackass. He was trying to jump from the top of the ladder onto his pool cover but he tied the bottom of the ladder to the fence with bungee cords. When he tried to push of the top the cords streched instead of holding the bottom of the ladder to the fence causing the entire ladder to move and him to fall straight down. I think he broke an arm and fractured some vertabrate but he lived.

Only when bob watched it he didnt get to see the neighbor come to help the film cut off before then. And bob thought he died. Turns out the guy just had a couple of broken ribs and some bruises. But the biggest bruise of all was his ego iw ould imagine.
