Up to 16 people a week I heared. I spoke this lawyer from Iran and he was trying to get money to buy a friend of him free.. He told me that 90% of the hangings are people who are against the regime. Actually, that guy, the Paris of the Middle East was Lebanon. Lebanon was the banking capital of the Middle East and had muslims and christians living side by side for decades. Not until they accepted refugees from the iranian revolution, which no other middle east country did, did they begin to fall prey to radical islam. To the guy who said they hang them low - it's because they are not using the long drop method (invented by the British for a more 'humane' execution - which breaks the neck). These guys are simply being strangled as the drop is not very much.

You are half right.
Let me explain.
the method you described is correct-however, Iran will often use a crane for such instances.
Use of a crane would be to slowly lift the infidels (with only a certified heavy equipment operator "feathering" the controlls to prevent any jerking) to the proper heaight- DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE CROWD.
It is BASIC hangman etiquette.
Even the most amatuer of hangmen are familiar with proper crowd population/hang height ratios, even an American Union hangman working overseas can easily convert to meteric, or arabic units for proper display.
Who wants to attend a hanging and see nothing but the back of the peoples heads in front of them?
Advanced proper hangman etiquette includes; multiples (both synchronized & staggered), varying rope lengths for aestheitcs, gibbeting, and my personal favorite-the "danging" where the damned is hung by their ankles-then a noose with a heavy weight at the other end of the rope is put about the neck-so they hang upside down! fun.
Recently the IBHM (International Brotherhood of Hang Men) have proposed for handicapped areas to be cordoned off at all public hanging events.
I am all for this.
