I am surpised he didn't crack his skull open on the concrete and die. Two things ridiculous about this attempt 1) the vertical speed when he is supposed to "grab" the links with his fingers is obviously too great and would likely rip his fingers off if he could have got them in anyway. 2) running toward the fence at that speed, you will obviously bounce right back off it, not "land" onto it like a net.
They tried that on Fear Factor, jumping from a helicopter onto rope mesh. Its a complete hit or miss proposition. You're basically expected to thread your fingers through a steel mesh at the moment of contact. It's not like that... In an unfamiliar situation, the smallest breakdown will result in catastrophic failure.
