Not from SD, but I lived in O.B. back in the late 70s to early 80s when I worked at the airport. Memories are rather dim now, but I remember SD as one of the nicest places on the planet. Lived right by the pier.
Moved there just as the tuna fishing industry was going belly-up. What blew my mind was seeing these big tuna boats with helo's on there decks, amazing.
I used to ride my push bike along the board walk north of the river on what must be Mission beach, (It's that strip that has the lagoon on the inside with all the cats sailing about) Must go back there one day,see if I can dig up some friends. When PSA went down the tubes, it was a bad day for all the employees. Very sad. Big sigh.
