I totally agree with your sentiment, but let's face it, what can you do? It is impossible to police the 3rd world with any effectiveness unless you send countless numbers of troops, an amount of money so vast, that would probably bankrupt most of the northern hemisphere and more importantly, the political will, to back it all up.
Unfortunately, most of the problems that we see are tribal related but disguised in the name of politics and the main reason for this tribal conflict is mainly due to colonial land grabbing. The boarders of these countries were originally drawn up with scant or total disregard, for the indigenous people who were already in residence.
We feel some guilt now because so many of the problems can be attributed in many ways, to our forefathers.

Why don't 'we' (as in G8 nations) just let people solve their own internal conflicts (AKA civil war). the usa has already had one openly faudulent presidential election and one probably fraudulent within the decade without public protest. so, if the usa has any kind of politicial and societal emergency similar to Kenya's it'll probably be the result of "dancing with the stars" having been cancelled, exposed breasts appearing on television, or a public official expressing doubt in the plausibility of deities.

You are absolutely right about Rwanda but each nation is not the same.
Keep in mind the lives that were lost less than two weeks ago when people were thrown into a church,children included and then burnt alive.
The leader of this "democratic party"had no remorse and did not ask the protesters to cool out after then incident.Only recently has he shown a change of heart probably to win sympathy from the west.
A typical example is a nation like Ethiopia.As messed up and as corrupt as the government may be they have a special force that they bring in from the countryside to deal with issues like this.
In 2005 it was the same mess but controlled within 2-5 days.
They made examples of those that tried to hurt the innocent right away-conclusion?

It's like the wild west in many African Countries. KIds, men, and women are being forced into slave labor such as diamond mining and lose limbs for no reason except the whim of a maniac watching over them. Many of the worlds diamonds come from Africa yet it remains one of the poorest countries. They can't even feed their own people. I would love to see other countries help bring civil rest and food and clothing to them. I think we need to take care of our starving men, women, and children here at home before we help the rest of the world but surely we could do it at the same time. Most of us are very fortunate to live on the countries we live in.
