It's sad. I was a first time visitor to New York many years ago. Me and my mate hired a car at JFK and drove over the Throgs Neck bridge on our way up state. We were looking for the Van Wyck expressway and got lost because we weren't used to the road signage in the states. We accidentally turned into Liberty Avenue in Queens and ended up some place that looked like 8 mile.
Not being street wise, i got out at a gas station to ask for directions and was screamed at by the black attendant. He said 'hey you guys better get the fuck out'. I couldn't believe what he was saying as an employee of a gas station and challenged his attitude. He apologised and said 'i'm only trying to help, but you better listen'
Anyway, he told us where we should be going and i strolled off back to the white mercury sable that had a big Hertz sticker in the window and a hire car identifiable serial number on the trunk. So i got in the car and opened the map which was in the glove compartment. So picture the scene. A big shiny white hired car, interior light on, two white dudes looking at a map who were obviously lost tourists.
The next thing that happened was we felt the car rocking. And because the interior light was on and it was dark outside, we couldn't see. That is until we switched off the interior light. We were surrounded buy 7 or 8 black guys who were trying to tip the car over.
I shat myself. Tried to engage drive, but all i could find was the windscreen wipers and indicators in my panic. Being from the UK we tend to drive stick more than auto. The fact that the shift was up on the steering column just added to the confusion and panic. Eventually I found D1 and floored it. scattering bodies everywhere. They got up and ran after us but thankfully even a mercury sable was fasty enough to secure our safety. A very scary moment in a dark neighbourhood in Queens. And unfortunately a racially motivated one.

This one time I was driving from Georgia to Texas and I stopped in Mississipi along I-10, when I got out at the rest stop I had several black guys go over to my car. I went to get back into my car and they were blocking me so I asked (as politely as possible) them to move so I could get in my car, they in turn started kicking my car, denting it all up and then they took a tire iron and smashed all of the windows in my car. A cop pulled up but he was black and he told me that I needed to forget it ever happened and just drive away with my busted ass car. I was so pissed that I made up this completely ridiculous story when all that really happened was that they moved and told me to "Have a nice day."

I once got punched in the face, through my car window for trying to tell the driver of the car in front that his indicator had been on for the last 2 miles, we stopped at a junction and he got out, I wound down my window and started to talk and he just punched me and walked away. He was white, I was white, my car was white, his car was kind of orange I suppose. There was an old lady stood on the sidewalk and she saw the whole thing, she was white too. I was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.................com e to think of it, my shoes were BLACK!!!! D'ya think that's why he hit me?????

Years ago I picked up a hitch hiker-the color of his skin is irrelevant.
He had a big ass army green bag over his shoulder-and I thought perhaps he was fresh back from the Gulf (war 1-at the time).
Being the Patriotic guy I am-I could'nt pass him by.
He asked how far I was going, and told me he would get out at the next town's center-fine with me.
The silence thereafter was uncomfortable, and every effort I made to converse was answered only with silence.
Picturing him walking-like he was with that big ass duffel bag made me think of how unaapreciative he seemed to be for the (free) ride.
In a last attempt to chat I decided to comment on the big ass bag, how much it must have sucked to walk with it...then I asked him what was in it.
He finally spoke. Not good though. The asshole said "none of your fucking business".
I flew off the handle, locked em' up, told him to get the fuck out, and peeled out up the road.
I had myself calmed down by the time I got home-and realized when I got out of my car-his duffel bag was still in my back seat!
