I can see you've never been to a local city budget meeting. Teachers are famous for acting worse than their students. Around here they feel that making $50-75,000 for ten months work a year (with full health benefits) is being "underpaid".

You are correct sir. We spend over 10,000 dollars per year on the average student but America is far from the best in education. Because of the union it is impossible to fire the bad teachers. Just as soon as I can afford it my kids will be going to private schools. for you buddy.

I know its considered anti-PC chic to piss on unions, but the testing statistics on charter schools (who's hiring and firing practices are as far removed from unions as these strikers are from reality) show that they're no more effective on average than public schools. Many kids just don't come to school ready to learn, plain and simple.
Know what I say? Bring corporal punishment back to the classroom -- if the parents don't want to prepare their kids to learn, at least don't take away a valuable tool for the teachers to pick up the slack.

Varying statistics show the median income for a public school teacher to be between 38K and 45K -- where you got that 50-75K claim is unknown. Judging by the cleanness of the range you provided, I'd bet it was either talk-radio boilerplate, or just pulled out of your ass.
