Reserve Officers Training Corps - My niece is a member, if after HS you choose to enter the military you'll go in at a higher level than someone not in ROTC.

Its a program for high school kids that are planning on being in the military as adults. Basically preparing them for what is to come and assisting them in becoming Officers as oppose to "grunts" or enlisted men. Its a pretty big deal around here.

i did rotc for a semester only. i prefer the enlisted side of the house

Not only does he get put on the news having a seizure and being robbed, he basically loses just about any chance of commissioning. Especially since he seems to be in Marine Corps ROTC judging by the desert BDUs. He probably couldn't even enlist in the Marines if he wanted to since they know he's had a seizure in the past. At least it happened before he became a PL and not after and at a time when it could have cost lives..
