Gameface is right. Statistically more people get bit by cocker spaniels than pits. Pits are like 6 or 7 or even lower on the list for bites. I have seen many news reports of Pittbull attacks, and when the dogs are actually shown, low and behold...they are not pits. The dogs gets the rap for being such a vicious dog, but actually account for a small percentage of attacks. Of the actual pit attacks, the dogs owner is normally a piece of shit. I own 2 pits, my son 1, and my sister another. All females, and all great dogs, that are great with kids, other animal, and even strangers. OH, by the way, we are all WHITE...but are far from TRASH. All of the above mentioned pit-owners have university degrees, live in very nice neighborhoods, and have high paying jobs.

wow..a lot of ignorant point of views about pit bulls..i'm a proud owner of two american pit bull terriers..blizzard (8 yrs old) and diamond(2 yrs old). both are being raised along with my two year old daughter, which they protect with their lives. now I'm not trailer trash, i have a mortgage, and these dogs are a better deterrent than any burglar alarm on the market.i'm not into dog fighting, i'm into protecting my family...i'd choose my dogs over a gun anyday. these dogs need to chew and exercise, this video is typical for my dogs, who do that on a daily basis for at least an hour a day. these are very smart and loyal dogs, and the only way they would ever attack a human is if that human was a threat to myself or my family.and i can train a chihuahua to rip a kids face off..any dog is capable of that. this breed was made to take down unruly bulls, not to fight in a ring..now the shar pei, the chow chow, those were actually bred to fight...do ur research, you'll see...

I can't agree with all of the above. Bottom line is that an animal is an animal. Even if you have trained it, you still have zero control over it's actions; you can only try to intervene when the shit hits the fan. My boss had a pit bull and a couple of other dogs. He came home to a bloody mess one day and now has zero dogs. I know that not all pit bulls bite people, but I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.

i actually have TOTAL control of my canine friends without speaking, i use whistles, snaps and gestures..they listen better then most children....

I have a friend (ex-coworker) that trains protection dogs. Don't fool yourself into believing you have 100% control. They still have an underlying nature that can bleed through any amount of training.

I've also had pits all of my life. Now, at my own pad, they stay outside in the kennel I built and in the backyard- NOT near my girls. Any dog can be a time bomb and I've come home (in the past) to bloody messes over fights myself, and I have physically broken up my pitbulls fighting.

The last thing in the world I would want to find out is that my girls were the victims.

you ever see a cocker spaniel jump four feet in the air and lock on a tire and thrash it around like a toy? a pit bull can generate 2000 psi to 3000 psi thats the strongest bite pressure of all mammals, thats just on the front teeth, their known killers world wide. why take a chance with a child's life? all dogs get lose. but their nowhere as powerful as these animals.

An APBT is essentially a big Jack Russell Terrier, minus the hunting instincts. Both JRTs and American Pit Bull Terriers are two of the most game dogs around. It's one of the reasons why many Pit Bull owners also own Jacks, and both dogs get along really well.
Yeah, this is not a "pyschotic" dog at all, he's simply playing. Using a tire like that is similar to a spring pole, and it allows for all dogs, especially tenacious grippers such as APBT's and JRT's, to have the time of their life.

Finally just to be clear I've seen many aggressive pits and been around a couple that were completely harmless that I let my dogs play with without concern for them. I personally wouldn't ever go looking to buy one with there being so many other good breeds out there. I had a pit..mixed with something else, not sure what it was, but I raised it like any other owner. I never hurt the dog, I walked him a lot, fed him of course..socialized him with other dogs, chopped his balls off, but he still tried to kill my grandmother. I guess I missed one of the rules. Maybe their was something that I didn't do right. To this day, I don't know what it was. Too bad I had to put him to sleep. Some people told me that I made a mistake to play tug of war with him. I would grab this rope with a handle and let him bite on while I pulled. I bought the toy at a pet shop so I thought it was fine. They say I taught him to be aggressive. I hunt destructive feral animals with dogs, never had an issue because i know what they are capable of, therefore I keep them away from People who arnt family, I keep them away from Native Fauna and livestock, And I most definately dont let them run around on the loose near other dogs. A responsable dog owner doesnt have issues end of story. I cannot agree more! If you have a problem with this video especially you are far from having any type of intelligience. I currently own an American Pit and have owned 3 other pits in the past. I have never had a problem with any of them. I have an 18 month old that crawls all over her, sits on her head, pulls her tail, and whatever else. I also have twins that were just born. NEVER had an issue. You think that I would put my kids at risk? Hell all I did by owning a pit was make a wise investment in my security at my house. Oh and one more thing. If you are stupid enough to relate them to being aggresive animals then maybe you should do some research. Nowadays they are used for security and protection. i have a pittbull. i want her to be like that dog. unfortunitly (i kno i spelled that wrong and what?) she's too nice.

Don't buy in to the hype. Pitbulls are essentially no different from other dogs. The problem it that they are popular among idiots who are prone to teaching them to be aggressive or simply fail to train them at all. They very strong, have high tolerance for pain, which is how they were breed to be, so an aggressive pitbull can be very dangerous, but the same can be said for several breeds. Aggression toward humans is not a natural or breed-in pitbull trait. They were breed to fight other dogs which would be impossible, with both handlers and a ref in the fight pit, if the dogs were people biters. Statistics on dog bites are highly innacurate. They don't take into account key factors such as population numbers or the cause for the bit or the fact that no one reports being bitten by small breeds. Even those lopsided stats report that german shephards are responsible for the most fatalities, again ignoring the fact that they are probably the most common guard dogs and thus often attack in the line of duty.
