It was definately fixed. Kimbo is the only fighter in this particular "League" that anyone has heard of. He was down and out midway through the 2nd round, recieving elbow after elbow, and the REF stood them up for inactivity. It was a joke. He wouldn't last 2 minutes against Coutrie(sp), Silva, or even Ortiz.

The fight should of been stopped in the 2nd, when Kimbo wasn't intelligently defending himself. I usually hate when people say a fight is fixed...but c'mon, the ref obviously had an agenda. The punches don't have to be hard enough to knock someone out...Kimbo must be able to defend himself at all times, which was not the case here. As a perfect example, watch BJ Penn vs Matt Hughes II...Matt had BJ in the crucifix, just as Kimbo was in, and he would of never knocked out BJ, but he couldn't intelligently defend himself from the strikes, so it was stopped. The #1 rule in MMA is that you must be able to intelligently defend yourself...plain and simple. -- EliteXC cannot afford for Kimbo to lose. I agree with those who say the fight was predetermined. In round 2 the ref should have called for JT, instead he stood them up. That favored Kimbo all the way. Kimb was stuck with no clue as what to do. JT was busy working Kimbos head. Also JT's ear should have been drained before the fight..That was a setup for kimbo... big target if things go bad for him.

Plain truth goes a little like this. Kimbo Slice hits hard, has a good killer instinct. Raw fighter. He fought a lot of stiffs (stand up exchangers) and won. The Phenom Bas Rutten took him under his wing about a year ago and has trained him in grappling, jiu jitsu, muy thai, boxing/kickboxing, conditioning and got him to quit smoking (it makes a big difference when you fight). EliteXc signs Kimbo because as an organization they are nearly up shits creek and figure since he's so well known he will draw viewers away from Ufc enough to give them a chance to compete. I've seen his MMA fights and I think they are good expierience for him to learn from when he watches them aferwards but EliteXc is being careful with who they bill him against. I mean come on Tank Abbot is old as fuck, Ray Mercer too. Not to mention bo Cantrell tapped after a couple wild haymakers. I agree thompson might have been the most well rounded opponent he's fought but they still threw him a goat. If Kimbo loses EliteXc loses a good amount of fan interest which they need now that they landed a network to stay in the business. I thought Kimbo lost this fight in the first round when he lightly tapped thompsons forearm while in the guillitine standing up. Then I thought he lost the fight when thompson drops bows on him for like 30 secs and had his arm pinned in a side mount. But the ref didnt stop it either time. I do think Kimbo's a good fighter but he isnt great yet, give him another 6 months and he'll be primo. The ref definately stopped this pre-maturely though. Thompson did eat 3 1/2 un-answered punches but he wasn't out on his feet, and to be honest the ref could have stopped it for a dr to come in and have a look at the ear and clean it up for a bit and then resume the fight. Thompson had every right to be upset because altough Im pretty sure Kimbo might have worked him a bit in the seconds to come I think he was still quite coherrant when they stopped it. It sucks for both fighters, thompson gets the loss and now Kimbo has even more shit to deal with before he can be a "respected" MMA fighter.
