Yes, for reasons you and I will probably never fully understand, some people do vote their own comments up to win COTD. Maybe they do it to feel better about themselves, maybe it's just to stir up shit on the internet for fun, maybe they cheat to vote up their friends' comments, whatever- who cares. But sometimes voting just looks weird because comments appeal to groups of visitors at a given time. Like, if one of your comments gets 7 votes between 6:30 and 7:30AM, does that mean you cheated? No. It just means the people online at the time liked your comment.

Once you step foot into a prison or a jail (like I do everyday) then and only then will you realize how easy the day goes when people comply. If the "teenager" would have just walked down the hall and had a seat, nothing would have happened. Is the Officer supposed to wait to get injured before he uses any sort of controling techniques? The "teenager" was non-compliant, he attempted to break away from the Officer. The teenagers actions caused the Officer to use control techniques to gain control and not lose custody of his inmate. It's not an abuse of power, it's disrespect to authority that you've witnessed.

Like asking him to stop? You obviously don't work in a prison and have probably never been in jail. We understand how it all works... these inmates understand how it all works.... and if they don't, we slam their head into the wall and then they figure it out. :-)

You are right, I have never worked in an adult prison nor have I ever been in jail to do time. I have however worked with both adult and youth offenders and all i am saying is there are other ways a majority of the time. I currently work with youth and I do know that slamming a youth's head off a wall is not the only way to get them to comply, it just builds up more resentment and hatred. What does that teach them. You are not getting their respect in any way shape or form. I do know that being a CO is a very stressful career and much respect for doing it all I'm saying is Crisis Intervention. Thats is thats all.

I'm a great communicator when it comes to working with inmates. I've deesculated more situations than I care to remember. I've only dealt with a few inmates similar to the teenager in the video and no we didn't slam their heads off the walls. However, they have been cuffed and stuffed which is just how it works and they know this. I'm all about communicating and deesculating situations, however, sometimes immediate use of force is necessary when it comes managing offenders. The BOTTOM line is this: if you are arrested and you comply, you won't have any issues.

I see no problem with this vid. The Officer was escorting a prisoner in custody to what appeared to be a book in area and the little maggot was trying to act all hard and jerk away from the Officer... The officer changed his mind and he was booked in...

Same principle here...In 95% of the videos...people don't see what an asshole and even violent suspect they were. The officer or guard had literally tried everything that he could, legally, to get these guys to calm down...and if that does not work, the only other way is to casually show force......presto, man calms down and become submissive and the officer or guard can continue doing their job.
