Besides, anyone with brains would just get out of the way, and even if he would have hit the cop it would have caused no harm to him at 3 mph

i agree 100%. If that were my father or brother out there putting his life on the line to prevent this asshole from killing an innocent person, even if it were inadvertently, i'd want them to kill the fucker before he got them or someone else. Fuck him. He deserved this.

I can't help but wonder if the criminal sympathizers would be as sympathetic if during a high speed police chase of a drunk-driving, drug-dealing, life-criminal, he crashes headon into a car filled with one of their families killing them all instantly. Would they still blame the police for endangering the lives of innocent civilians for not backing off and letting the criminal get away - to possibly crash headon into the innocent and killing them instantly anyway?..........at what point do you hold the criminal accountable? DO you hold the criminal accountable? Is it ALWAYS the fault of the police? I believe in some people's minds, it is...and that's sad..............I don't relate well to cop haters..I think mainly because I assume they have no respect for authority (or the law) and that they have had more than their fair share of run-ins with them.

High speed chases are fashionable, but they still pose a huge risk to bystanders- even with that though, cops are able to get the guy out of the car and onto the ground, because the crazy fuck isn't usually that crazy.
Trapped though, this guy didn't surrender- he was like a rattlesnake in a corner. Or a... whatever the British equivalent is... in a loo. Point is he was that crazy, and he was making overtures to the cops with his car, and not his uppraised hands. He was a huge threat.

Not as easy as you think to shoot someone in a vehicle with run of the mill hand gun ammo.

At the vid. It didn't look like he was trying to hit the cops. However to the officer standing behind the vehicle It probably did. My guess is that he was the first to fire. After that everyone does. I know I would of. I don't fault the cops in this one either. More time and finesse probably would of done the trick but when you act crazy shit gets crazy.

Those cops have obviously never learnt the P.I.T manuever or even learnt about boxing in suspects better than they did.

Shoot out tyres, use that engine immobilizer, anything.....yes shooting is a last resort...but they had other options open to them in this case that were not taken and they did use overkill methods to resolve the situation.

It wouldn't have been a self-defense shooting had it not been for that idiot cop standing right in the middle of the parking spot at the end of the clip. They had him completely boxed in, but that one cop, being in the wrong place was in danger when suspect drove at the wall.

In most situations, things can go better in an operation, but communication, especially in smaller, quieter units with less training, can be a big problem in the heat and stress of battle.

Most cops don't ever encounter situations even close to this much action. Of course they aren't going to be prepared as say a Marine or a SWAT cop.

That's true....maybe a revamp of overall skills needs to be contemplated.

A few weekends every few months should be compulsary to have to attend these training seminars.

Then atleast there would be more extensively trained, capable and most importantly confident and calm officers ready for anything.

But I really believe that Marines, as desciplined as they are, are better made for situations involving SWAT, more of combat situations.

the streets need normal guys who can side with people and save lives (not taking them more effectively), usually avoiding things like this, but not always.

besides, if you think that this bad situation is a clusterfuck you would not imagine the kind of pressure Marines in combat deal with as far as the rules of engagement and having polititians breathing down their necks about who they shoot and don't shoot.

It's called "Traction".....In the case of a wheeled vehicle, when the motor and/or transmission turns the axles, a reaction torque on the axles is created by the traction of each wheel on the ground. Without traction, there would be no torque (other than that required to overcome the friction and inertia of the transmission and wheels themselves), and hence no movement of the vehicle.

Is the media filled with constant video footage of criminals escaping whilst on four rims. alot of mistakes were made here , i,m not a cop basher but this could have been handled alot better , they had him , but the cop moved his car out of the way , hard to figure out why.
