I've worked a factory job before and I can tell you. These folks got off easy being shot.

Iv'e always said I want to shoot someone and this is the type of guy I'd kill. If a conveniently placed gun was next to me while he was trying to kill people, I'd either grab the gun and shoot wildly until I hit him in the leg or just calm down and BOOM headshot. Situation Ethics, The Lesser of 2 evils! :)
