Normally when you see a gate closing, you would hurry up. Light turns yellow, you put your foot into it if you're in the intersectiion. That would be a normal response. It looks to me like she expected the gate to open again when it encountered resistance (like a garage door or an elevator door), and was holding it for someone. Security gates, however, don't work that way. They are designed to keep people out, so they don't respond to resistance. You may see signs on such gates that say "do not challenge gate", and that's why. It will cheerfully kill you. I had to shoo a small child off of a security gate once (she was riding it open and closed while the idiot mom watched and did nothing). If the retractor chain had caught that child's foot, it would have torn her foot off.
