I had something similar happen to me when I was 19. I was in one accident and walked behind my car when another car rear-ended it. I heard them in time to react by jumping straight up but my left leg didn't come up far enough. After bouncing across the hood and windshield, I landed with my lower leg pointing in the wrong direction. They saved my leg with a steel rod and several screws and I don't enjoy the changing of the seasons.
