Looks like a first gen RX-7. Definitely something broke, maybe the rear differential or axle shaft to cause the driver to lose control.

I had a built second gen RX-7 turbo putting down over 450 rwhp that was very reliable... Early RX-7's weren't made for rally racing or such purposes. Gaskets and seals were the problem of it's era which have been solved with advances such as weaving carbon fiber into silicone. Rotary engines produce the highest HP per cubic inches of any engine ever made. I have a friend with a twin turbo third gen shitkicker, on race fuel and spray that has put down 1200 HP with a built 1.3 liter rotary. Time and space tends to expand if you're lucky enough to be a passenger in it.

this happened not far from me.the guy was a gang member with a bad attitude,to make it worse his buddy and his buddy's small daughter were trapped under the car and were screaming for help.apparently the car blew its clutch and sharpnel from the explosion sliced through a brake line

i knew the guy...his name is owen and it was his brother a niece trapped under the car.the car blew its clutch plate and severed the brake linnings causing it to loose control.the rd it was held is teroto drive in my town of paraparaumu just north of wellington in new zealand.

Think it was an early Rx7, I'm not that gen'd up on Wankels, so i'm guessing about what drives the servo vacuum pump. But I drove a Two stroke Orbital once, and the brake vacuum pump failed. It was instant loss of about 90% of my braking force. Exciting.
