I used to live really close to where this accident happened. It's in Hayle, Cornwall (UK). It's a very tempting stretch of road to take off up the hill, even in a car.

It wasn't the car drivers fault. At the speed the bike was going, the driver may well have checked her mirror and the bike sped up behind her. I used to ride a bike and you should be aware of blind spots, the fact that car drivers don't expect you to be there, the fact that it was likely that the car was going to overtake the slower car in front etc etc. It's what keeps you alive.
