saddam was sunni yes, but he was also a secular nationalist, you know what that means? it means he was against religion ruling the state. He never used to kill someone for he's believes, he used to see all iraqis the same, in terms of the kurds, they wanted their own state and government, they wanted to divide iraq, they collaborated with the Iranians during the war, thats why the deserve to be crushed, kurds hate arabs as well for historical reasons. also saddam used to kill so many sunni imams who used to call of Islam to rule the state, saddam didnt like the shia because he though they were loyal to iran, however, he had many shia ministers in he's government, the most known one is the information minister "al-sahaf", many of he's republican guard generals and commanders were shia, so plz dont chat shit about sunnis being privileged and shia being oppressed
